Beginning with the 2008 exhibition, Exposition Universelle des Vins et Spiritueux presents the important role that France has played in the development of alcoholic beverages and mixed drinks beginning in the 1200s with Arnaud de Villeneuve’s discovery and naming of aqua vitae, the source from which all alcohol categories produced in Europe and the Americas were born.
The exhibit also presents groundbreaking research into the origins of the major spirits categories as well as France’s role in the development of cocktail culture and many classic
drinks that are popular today.
