The appellation Barolo is probably the most prestigious of Italy.

It is in the southwest of the city of Alba, known for its production of white truffles. Very tannic, tough and intense in aromas, this existent red wine of the nebbiolo grape variety is the symbol of guard's big wine. It is necessary to in general wait at least 7 years before savouring it.

In the northeast of Alba, the appellation Barbaresco produces reds of nebbiolo more loving and a little less powerful.

The region is famous also for its effervescent white wines of Asti Spumante and Moscato d'Asti.

Other appellations: Gattinara (reds of nebiollo reminding of the style of Barolo), Ghemme (powerful reds of nebbiolo, vespolina and bonarda), Will Bore stiff ("of Asti" and "from Alba" coming of will bore stiff), Dolcetto (light reds existent of dolcetto), Langhe, Freisa, Brachetto d'Acqui, Gavi, Roero.
