The Charter was signed by Louis XV when Louis Gautier founded the company which has continued to this day. In 1800, Gautier was one of the 4 negotiants established in Aigre; in Cognac there were six.

In 1975, Gautier has merged with Berger, and in 1995, Gautier became part of Marie Brizard and Roger International.
