Prince Hubert de Polignac was a descendant of one of the most ancient French aristocratic families, descended from Armand 1er de Polignac, who lived in the 800s.

In 1947, Prince Hubert de Polignac was the French Foreign Trade Counsellor. He allowed his name and coat of arms to become a registered trademark used by UNICOOP, the short version of Union Coopérative Viticulteurs Charentais. This wine grower's society situated in Cognac was founded in 1931. The society consists of about 3.500 independent wine growers having an entire vineyard of about 5.500 hectares in all areas of the Charente, except Bois Ordinaires.

Prince Hubert de Polignac widely contributed to the promotion of this cognac abroad, making himself a brand ambassador while visiting heads of state.

In 1959, Polignac became the official provider of the Court of His Majesty the King of Denmark, thanks to an introduction made by Russian Prince Alexis Louis de Wenden.
