About Arrack
A popular spirit in South and South East Asia, arrack is one of the oldest spirits produced in the world.
The distillate is made with various base elements depending on the region: fermented fruit, grain, sugarcane, sugar palm, or coconut palm sap.
One of the most famous styles, Batavia arrack is produced in Indonesia. Using red rice and a local yeast as activators, the sugarcane juice is fermented before being distilled in a Chinese style of pot still.
Distilled from coconut palm sap, Lambanog is a style that is unique to the Philippines.
